National French Honor Society Welcomes 18 Westlake Students

The students must maintain an A average in all high school French studies and a B grade average overall.

WESTLAKE, OH - The French have contributed greatly to global culture throughout their storied history. Their work with language has produced such luminaries as Marcel Proust, Albert Camus, Gustave Flaubert, and Voltaire, among dozens of others. Mastering the French language is a labor that yields rich rewards and for 18 Westlake High School students, they're well on their way to harvesting the fruits of that labor.

The students were inducted into the National French Honor Society recently, the school district says. To get into the society, students must maintain an A average in all of their high school French studies, and at least a B average overall.

New members to the society recite an oath as part of the ceremony. They also sang the Marseillaise with the fifth- and sixth-grade French students. French Honor Society advisors are Laura Emmer and Elizabeth Zingales.
