One Dead After Car Accident In Westlake

Police said a car left the road and hit a pole on Center Ridge Road. The driver was killed and a passenger suffered serious injuries.

WESTLAKE, OH — A 22-year-old North Olmsted man is dead after a car accident in Westlake on Wednesday night. The man was the driver of a car that hit a utility pole on Center Ridge Road, near Glenmore Drive.

The accident happened at about 11:35 p.m. Westlake police and fire were called to the scene of a one-car crash on Center Ridge. The vehicle had left the road and hit a utility pole and construction materials that were collected near the street.

The man in the driver's seat, Kevin Ott, of North Olmsted, did not survive the accident, police said. The passenger in the car, another 22-year-old, from North Olmsted, was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

It is not yet clear what caused the car to go off the road.

Westlake Police and the Cuyahoga County Cornoner's Officer are investigating the accident. Police closed part of Center Ridge Road for three hours on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
