72-Year-Old Woman Killed While Walking Detroit Road In Westlake
Police said Good Samaritans, firefighters, and police officers tried to save the injured woman — but she died from her injuries.

WESTLAKE, OH — A 72-year-old woman was killed while walking near the intersection of Detroit Road and Hamlet Lane. Police said a Spectrum truck hit the woman.
The accident happened Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. Westlake Police and Fire crews were called to the scene. Good Samaritans, officers, and firefighters arrived, found the woman, and tried to save her life, but she died from her injuries, police announced.
Police said the accident involved only a Ford bucket truck, belonging to Spectrum, and the woman, a pedestrian. The driver of the truck, and the company, are cooperating with the investigation, police said.

The woman is from out of town and was visiting relatives, police said.

Detroit Road, between Melrose and Clubside drives, were closed for 3.5 hours during the investigation. The identity of the deceased woman will not be released until next of kin are notified.
