Portrait Of An Artist: Lauren Voiers
Works by this Westlake High School graduate can be seen in the Grammy Hall of Fame and Liverpool.

Lauren Voiers may be just 20 years old, but she’s internationally known.
“Art has been a life theme for me,” said the 2009 graduate, who started painting at the age of 13.
Voiers, who began selling professionally at age 18, has an 18-foot aluminum piece of public art entitled “Peace and Harmony” standing in Liverpool, England. The piece was commissioned to commemorate John Lennon’s 70th birthday and unveiled last year.

Voiers got to see her project during the dedication, and will get to see it again in October, when she heads out for another Beatles-related project.
“I was asked to do a baas relief plaque for Lucy,” Voiers said. Lucy Vodden, a childhood friend of Julian Lennon’s who inspired the Beatles’ song “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds,” died in 2009.

Voiers also works heavily in oil paints, creating vibrant pieces that combine styles.
“I, for the most part, prefer to work large-scale. I would describe my style as realistic and cubism,” she said, noting that Picasso has been an inspiration to her.
And her paintings are famous too. Just this year, she created a painting this year for the Grammy’s through the MusiCares organization in honor of Barbara Streisand. The piece was number one on the auction table and is now on display in the Grammy Museum.
“It’s pretty crazy, but I’ve been working on my craft for a long time,” Voiers said.
