Prisoners Try To Sneak Drugs Into Westlake Jail...And Fail

Police said they found both suspected crack cocaine and marijuana blunts on incoming prisoners.

WESTLAKE, OH — Two different people tried to bring concealed drugs into Westlake Jail on October 20, police said. Both were unsuccessful in fooling booking officers.

A man with a warrant in Westlake was picked up by another police department at about 2:30 a.m., police said. The man was brought to Westlake Jail and during the booking procedure, suspected crack cocaine was found concealed in his clothing.

Later in the day, another person with a warrant in Westlake was transferred to the city's jail. During the thorough booking process, the man was found to be concealing marijuana "blunts," police said.

The man was asked why he didn't simply tell police that he had marijuana on him, he responded that he didn't think police would find the blunts. Sadly for him, they did.

Both men are being charged with illegal conveyance of prohibited items into a detention facility — a felony.
