Westlake officials noted that storm water flows directly into Lake Erie, untreated.
The city's storm drainage watershed includes seven major streams and creeks that all discharge into the lake, including: Cahoon, Porter, Schwartz, Perry, Wilhelmy, Wischmeyer, and Wolf. The creeks have about 150 miles of storm sewers that collect rain from parking lots, roadways, buildings, and other developed areas.
