Reflections Art Contest Winners Announced In Westlake

Westlake Council of PTAs is proud to announce that three of these submissions earned awards from the Ohio PTA.

From Westlake Council of PTAs: The Westlake Council of PTAs held its 2017-2018 Reflections Art Show & Judging on November 30, 2017 at Westlake Porter Public Library, and top entries recently advanced to the Ohio PTA State Reflections Competition.

Founded in 1969, the National PTA Reflections program engages nearly 300,000 students and their families in arts education activities each year—encouraging students to explore the arts for fun and recognition. PTA Reflections is a nationally acclaimed student recognition program to encourage artistic creativity in the classroom and at home. Students of all grades and abilities may participate, and students from all seven Westlake City schools took part in this year’s program. This year’s PTA Reflections theme was ‘Within Reach’ and the following
students won their divisions in the following categories at the Art Show & Judging on November 30th: Literature – Alia Manaf, Ella Navratil, Leah Bunner; Music Composition – Christine Xiao, Aidan Scheuer; Photography – Brandan McLaughlin, Zachary Baker, Kaitlin Willi; and Visual Arts – Gus Gibbs, Ella Wright, Alex Spring, Macy Sinreich.

Westlake Council of PTAs is proud to announce that three of these submissions earned awards from the Ohio PTA: Alia Manaf’s ‘An Awesome Figure Skater’ earned an Award of Merit in Literature (Primary Grade Division), Christine Xiao’s ‘Spring’ earned an Award of Merit in Music Composition (Intermediate Division), and Aidan Scheuer’s ‘Fluid Dynamics’ earned an Award of Excellence in Music Composition (Middle School Division). Aidan’s entry will be advanced to the National PTA level because he placed first in the state of Ohio. Westlake Council of PTAs consists of 8 local PTAs organized under the authority of Ohio PTA for the purpose of promoting conference, communications, leadership development, and the coordination of the efforts of its member PTAs.
