Roger Berry, Funeral Director For More Than 50 Years, Died Friday at Age 81
He co-owned Berry Funeral Homes in Cleveland and Westlake with his late brother, Daniel.

Roger S. Berry Sr., a funeral director, who served families in Cleveland, Westlake and other western suburbs for more than 50 years, died Friday, Aug. 26, at age 81.
In the 1960s, Berry and his older brother, Daniel, bought the Berry Funeral Home in Cleveland, which their parents had owned and where they grew up.
The brothers opened a second funeral home in Westlake in the mid-1980s.

After his brother’s death 10 years ago, Berry joined what was then the Busch-Corrigan-Berry Family Funeral Chapel in Fairview Park as an owner. At the time of his death, he was employed by Busch Funeral and Crematory Services.
The Westlake resident belonged to the Callistian Guild, a Catholic organization that provides dignified funerals for indigent people. He served on the boards of the St. Augustine Manor nursing home and the HELP Foundation, which helps children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Berry, who served in the Army during the Korean War, met the former Nancy M. Feighan at her grandfather’s funeral. They were married at in Lakewood.
In addition to his wife of 57 years, survivors include his children, Kathleen M., Sheila A., Nancy B. Peyton, Roger S. Jr., Mark and Tim; and seven grandchildren.
Calling hours are 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, and Monday, Aug. 29, at Busch Funeral Home, 21369 Center Ridge Road, Fairview Park.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at , 2345 Bassett Road, Westlake.
