Running In Tutus: Charity Race Comes To Westlake
The Lady Tutu 5K and Little Princess Dash will be held at Crocker Park on June 3. Learn more about this woman-powered race.

WESTLAKE, OH — Tutus seem an odd choice of running outfit until you realize the Lady Tutu 5K and Little Princess Dash is coming to town. The charity race benefits the Make-a-Wish foundation and is all about celebrating empowered women and girls. This year, one of the race locations includes Westlake's Crocker Park.
The event is for all generations and encourages runners and walkers to take part in the event. Participants will, of course, also be asked to don the ceremonial running tutu.
The 5K run and walk will start at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 3. The Little Princess Dash will be held at 9:30 a.m.

After the race, there will also be a HealthFest held at Crocker Park. Participants in the race will be encouraged to stick around and check out some of the booths at that event.
While members of the Lady Tutu organization did not immediately return a request for comment, the group's website does include testimonials from previous participants.

“As a big, tight-knit family we get quite a bit of ‘family time’ but we never get a lot of just lady family time. So we thought the Lady Tutu 5K would be the best opportunity to escape the men in the family while helping a good cause at the same time!" said Sara Sitterly, a Cleveland runner. "It was our first 5K and immediately after the race we decided it wasn’t our last! We can’t wait to continue our “family lady time” by running/walking 5K’s! Mothers, daughters, sisters, sister-in-laws, grandmothers, cousins, aunts and granddaughters alike participated! We now have memories and medals that we will cherish as a family for a lifetime.”
