Learn Bookbinding, Metalworking and Jewelry Making at Small Studio

Wrapping paper from around the world, artists' brushes, block letters and vintage items are just some of the shop's offerings.

Artists, crafters and supplies from all over the world are coming together at , now open at Jefferson Square on Detroit Road.

From book-binding to metalwork to jewlery, journaling, collage, assemblage and more, there are all kinds of workshops and classes being offered. And the store is stocked with supplies and unique items to inspire.

Owner Ginny Carter Smallenburg has run a store here in Westlake, and one in Connecticut, and has been stocking the shelves for weeks with book binding materials, artists' brushes, block letters vintage items and other eclectic items.

"I had one more store in me," she said. "The store has really been filing up. We have a few scrapbooking supplies and limited art supplies, but we specialize in unique stuff. Paper goods, gifts, vintage pieces and some new pieces."

The store even carries over 200 wrapping papers from as far away as Italy, Nepal and Thailand.

"You can do all kinds of things with those," Smallenburg said. "People wrap books in them or line the back of a book shelf. There are a million and one uses."

Smallenburg and her husband John go out and find many of the items for sale themselves at estate sales and garage sales.

From May through October, the store will have weekend workshops from visiting artists like Michael DeMeng, an assemblage artist from Missoula, MT who exhibits throughout the country.
