Stand-Off At Westlake Hotel Ends Peacefully
A man wanted for failing to register as a sex offender locked himself in a hotel room and refused to come out, police said.

WESTLAKE, OH — A man that failed to register as a sex offender was arrested after a stand-off with police at a Westlake hotel on Friday. The man barricaded himself in his room and police had to surround the building and bring in negotiators to get the man out.
The stand-off started at about 12:45 p.m. Police were investigating a car that was parked illegally in a handicapped spot at the Super 8 Hotel on Sperry Road. Officers found the room where the car's driver was staying, but the man lied about his identity and then closed the door and barricaded himself inside. There was a woman with him in the barricaded room, police said.
While investigating the man's identity, police found a woman that knew the man in the hotel. She identified the man and was then arrested on a warrant out from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office.
