Stolen Truck Hits Pole In Westlake, Driver Breaks Into Home

Police said a truck stolen in Lakewood was crashed in Westlake. The driver was found hiding in bushes in Westlake.

WESTLAKE, OH — A stolen truck crashed into a pole on Detroit Road in Westlake on Wednesday, police announced.

At 7 a.m., callers said a truck had hit a pole on Detroit, near Clague Road. The driver reportedly walked away from the crash, callers said.

Police arrived and found no one in the truck. The registered owner of the truckwas a Lakewood resident. The owner said he thought his truck was still parked in the driveway. Lakewood police went to the man's home and the truck was reported stolen.

Westlake officers searched the area for the driver. A resident on Concored then contacted police and said someone had gone into his detached garage and then walked into the resident's home. The caller said the man appeared to be trying to change clothes.

When police arrived, they found a 38-year-old man hiding in the bushes at the home. He was taken into custody and faces charges for burglary, breaking and entering, receiving stolen property, hit skip, and driving under suspension.

The man is being held at Cuyahoga County Jail.
