Suspect In Energy Drink Theft From Westlake Store Identified
Police said they believe the suspect stole more than $1,000 in energy drinks from the Westlake Drug Mart.
WESTLAKE, OH — Police announced they have identified a man suspected of stealing more than $1,000 in energy drinks from the Westlake Drug Mart. The man is also accused of trying to shoplift clothes from the same store.
Last Monday, at noon, callers reported a possible shoplifting at Drug Mart. Police went to the scene and learned that a man had come into the store and tried to take about $100 of clothing items.
Loss prevention officers with Drug Mart noticed what was happening and confronted the suspect, police said. The man dropped the merchandise and left the store. He was seen leaving in a black Ford Fusion, police added.

Earlier in March, more than $1,000 in energy drinks were stolen from the same Drug Mart. Loss prevention officers told police they believe it was the same man that tried to steal the clothes.

As Westlake Police investigated at Drug Mart, Rocky River Police saw the Ford Fusion and started to pursue it. The vehicle didn't yield and officers eventually called off the pursuit, police said.
However, investigators have identified the suspect as Carlos Plass, 40, of Willowick. Police said they have issued felony warrants for his arrest.
