Suspect Fights Westlake Police, Injures Officer: Police
Police said a 27-year-old Elyria man fought with police last Sunday. One officer suffered minor injuries during the scuffle.

WESTLAKE, OH — A 27-year-old man wrestled with police after officers discovered suspected heroin and crack cocaine in his possession, Westlake police said.
The incident happened May 11, at about 3:30 p.m. An officer stopped a car on I-90, at the Lorain County line, for traffic and license violations. There were three people inside the car and officers separated them and questioned each individually.
The front seat passenger was acting strangely, police said. Officers searched him and found suspected heroin and crack cocaine in his possession.

The man then began wrestling with police. During the scuffle, one officer suffered minor injuries, police said.
The 27-year-old was eventually subdued and taken to Westlake City Jail. The man has been charged with felony drug possession, obstructing official business and bringing prohibited contraband into a jail facility.

The officer that was injured wrestling the man was taken to the hospital and released the same day. He is back at work, police said.
The other two occupants of the car were released on the scene and not charged with any crimes.
