Suspect Jumps Out Of Moving Car, Runs From Westlake Police

Police said the man was found in possession of meth and fentanyl.

WESTLAKE, OH — A K9 unit was brought in to find a man that ran from police on July 9. Officers eventually discovered fentanyl, methamphetamine and pills in the man's possession.

Officers stopped a car near Columbia Road, just south of Detroit, on July 9. They said the car had committed multiple traffic violations.

The driver of the car jumped out of his moving vehicle and took off on foot. The passenger in the car put the car in park and spoke with police.

Neighboring police departments and Westlake's K9 unit were brought in to search for the escaped suspect. The man was trying to meet-up with a woman that was driving in a nearby neighborhood. Police found both people and arrested them.

Police found a meth smoking pipe on the would-be getaway driver, they said.

Officers also found the meth and fentanyl inside the man's car, the one he didn't bother to stop, as well as pills and drug paraphernalia. The passenger in the vehicle has been charged with attempted possession.

The running man has been arrested and is facing felony possession of drug charges. His would-be getaway driver is facing misdemeanor drug charges, police said.
