Suspected Crack Cocaine Brought Into Westlake Jail

WESTLAKE, OH — On Friday morning, police took a wanted man into custody. They then discovered the man sneaked crack cocaine into Westlake Jail, a felony.

On Friday morning, at 11:15 a.m., police stopped a car on Crocker Road, near Union Street, for two traffic violations. Offices noticed signs of drug use in the stopped car and searched the whole vehicle.

Officers found three loaded guns in the car. The driver, a 29-year-old man from Lorain, had previous felony convictions for violent crimes, as well as drug law violations, which barred him from having a gun.

Police took the man into custody for having weapons under disability.

The 29-year-old was taken to Westlake Jail. Police searched the man's body and found a baggie of suspected crack cocaine. A police spokesperson said the man will be charged with felony conveyance of contraband into a corrections facility.

Police said there was also a 37-year-old woman in the Lorain man's car. She was cited with possession of marijuana.
