Suspected Fentanyl, Heroin Found In Car In Westlake

Police said four people inside a car were in possession of a gray powder, which officers believe is either heroin or fentanyl.

WESTLAKE, OH — Suspected heroin or fentanyl was found in a parked car outside a Westlake bar on Thursday evening. Police said the suspected narcotics have been sent to a laboratory for analysis.

At 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, police received a duress alarm at a bar. Officers investigated and saw a single car parked outside the bar. There were four people inside the car.

As officers approached the car, the four people inside appeared to try and hide pieces of tin foil and needles, a Westlake police spokesperson said.

All four of the people inside the car were checked by officers. Police said they found folded pieces of tinfoil, uncapped hypodermic needles, burnt spoons and paper containing a grey powder. The powder is believed to be either heroin or fentanyl, police said.

The powder was confiscated and sent to a lab for analysis, police said.

Prosecutors are reviewing the case for possible charges.

The alarm at the bar was tripped accidentally, police added.
