Thieves Steal Entire Shelf of Energy Drinks: Westlake Police Blotter

WESTLAKE, OH - The energy drink thieves are at it again, this time making off with nearly $600 worth of product from a Drug Mart on Detroit Rd. This is the third incident involving energy drink theft since July.

Sept. 24 - An entire shelf of energy drinks, worth about $600, was stolen from Drug Mart on Detroit Rd. The chain has suffered thefts of the same product at other stores in July and August. CCTV shows different suspects are involved.

Sept. 25 - A Hawthorn Ln. woman reported that her 42-year-old husband came home intoxicated. Fearing for her safety, she locked him out and he tried to force open the door. He was arrested.

Sept. 25 - An intoxicated 40-year-old Northwood Ln. woman called Westlake Police to report that her husband had threatened to kill her. She was arrested for DCI and had to be carried to the cruiser, kicking and screaming.

Sept. 26 - Jewelry is missing from a Regency Cr. home. The resident came home to find items dumped on the floor. The value of the missing property is unknown and there were no signs of forced entry.

Sept. 26 - A 15-year-old and 17-year-old pair of Bay Village girls were caught shoplifting at a Detroit Rd. store. They took items totaling $84. Their moms were called to the scene and the girls will be filed on in Juvenile Ct.

Sept. 26 - A Westlake man’s credit card was used in Athens, Oh. to make a $1,765 purchase he did not authorize. He notified Athens police and the account was closed.

Sept. 27 - Prowlers rifled through a number of cars on the night of Sept. 27. A $5 bill was taken from an unlocked car on Williams Dr. and two other cars were broken into, but nothing was stolen from them. On West Hedgewood Dr., three unlocked cars were gone through and $200 cash and a credit card was taken from one of them. On Radcliffe Dr., five unlocked cars at two homes were rummaged through but nothing was missing. One car was searched through on Salem Pkwy. but the owner has not reported anything missing.

Sept. 28 - A 2016 Nissan Maxima was stolen from a Center Ridge Rd. home on the night of Sept. 27. The keys were left inside the car. The vehicle was located in Cleveland on the morning of Sept. 28.

Sept. 28 - Jewelry worth $300 is missing from a Crossings Pkwy. woman’s home. She suspects an exterminator who serviced her place on Sept. 17 and reported the matter on Sept. 28.

Sept. 28 - A wallet belonging to a Rocky River woman was taken from her unlocked 2015 Volvo XC70. It was parked at the Porter Rd. soccer fields. Her husband received a message from the issuing bank about suspicious use of one of her credit cards. The $2,000 transaction was apparently declined. The woman is gathering more info on any other transactions

Sept. 28 - A Savannah Pkwy woman could not get into her home. Her keys would not unlock the doors. She suspects that her former live-in boyfriend, who showed up at the house contrary to the terms of a Temporary Protection Order, changed the locks.

Sept. 28 - A Westlake man’s 1999 Accord was entered during the nigiht. The front license plate, in dash stereo, and 15 CDs were taken. The car also would not start. There were no signs of forced entry.

Sept. 29 - An Avon Lake woman dropped her child off at a Center Ridge Rd. school. While she was inside, her wallet was taken from her 2011 Land Rover. It contained several credit cards which were used in Strongsville to make charges of $1,053. Other illicit charges were declined. Police are seeking CCTV footage of the fraudulent transactions.
