Thieves Targeting Commercial Trucks, Trailers In Westlake

Police said several local businesses have had equipment and catalytic converters stolen this month.

WESTLAKE, OH - Over a three-day span in Westlake, someone broke into commercial trucks and trailers parked at local businesses.

On June 11, a box truck parked at Design Surfaces on Sperry Road had its catalytic converter stolen. Three nearby trailers were also broken into. The owners of the trailers are still putting together a list of the items that were stolen.

On June 13, someone broke into a landscaping trailer that was parked on Sperry. Roughly $4,000 worth of equipment was taken.

Also on June 13, Westlake police were called by another Sperry Road business. The company said that several catalytic converters and tools were taken from their vans and trucks, all of which were parked in their lot.

All of the thefts happened overnight and appear to be connected, Westlake police said.

Investigators are reaching out to local scrap yards and collecting evidence.
