Trader Joe's Recalls Boxes of Chicken & Rice

For the third time this year, a Trader Joe's product has been recalled.

U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service on Monday announced that Aliya’s Foods Limited, one of Trader Joe's producers, will recall boxes of the "Butter Chicken with Basmati Rice” line, the Huffington Post reported.

Aliya's will recall 4,865 pounds of frozen butter chicken and rice imported from Canada because the food may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. The product is sold in a 12.5-ounce box.

About 240 cartons of the butter chicken have been distributed to stores along the East Coast, but reportedly none to Ohio stores, including the Westlake location. Nineteen cartons of the product are on hold at a distribution center, Food and Safety News reported.

In September, Trader Joe's announced a voluntary recall of peanut butter products because of possible salmonella contamination. The retailer also pulled several chicken salad and onion products from shelves in July due to the risk of Listeria contamination.
