Trapped Fawn Saved By Westlake Police
A Westlake resident noticed a fawn wedged between his fence and his neighbor's fence. The job of saving the deer fell to Westlake police.
WESTLAKE, OH — Westlake police had the unusual task of rescuing a fawn last week. The deer got itself stuck between fences separating properties on Stonehedge Drive.
At 8 p.m. on May 21, a Stonehedge resident called police and said they saw something strange — what appeared to be a deer stuck between his fence and his neighbor's fence. The resident said the deer seemed distressed.
A Westlake officer went to the home and found the fawn wedged between fences. The fawn's mother was stomping nearby, concerned, frightened and impatient to retrieve its child.

The officer had to get a breaching tool to free the fawn from its predicament. Hammering away, the officer freed the fawn without injuring it.
The fawn ran to its mother and the two deer trotted merrily away, according to a Westlake police spokesperson.
