Two Burglaries At Westlake Restaurants In Six Days

Cash was stolen from restaurants near Crocker Park during break-ins. Police are investigating both incidents.

WESTLAKE, OH — Two Westlake restaurants were burglarized in six days and cash was stolen from both. Police are still investigating the incidents but currently believe they are unconnected.

The first burglary happened March 25 at Pizza By Robert, in the 30000 block of Detroit Road. The owner of that restaurant arrived at his store at about 8:15 a.m. and found that someone had broken in overnight. Police initially reported that some items were stolen from the business, and later confirmed that cash was missing from Pizza By Robert.

Police searched the area after being alerted to the burglary but did not locate any suspects. Evidence was collected from the restaurant and the detective bureau is following up on some leads. A spokesperson for Westlake Police said additional details could not be provided because the investigation is ongoing.

A second burglary at a Westlake restaurant happened March 31. At about 5:30 a.m., a burglar alarm was tripped at Zoup! at Crocker Park. Someone had forced their way into the rear door of the business using some kind of tool. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken from inside.

Police said there was no one around when they arrived at the scene. Investigators collected evidence and are also looking to collect surveillance video footage of the incident.

A Westlake Police spokesperson said there are no known connections between the two burglaries at this time.
