Uber Driver Helps Police Catch Suspected Thief In Westlake
One of the driver's fares told him she had "robbed" someone at Hyatt Hotel. The driver was able to describe the woman to police.

WESTLAKE, OH — Police say a ride share driver helped police catch a thief at Crocker Park. With a tip from the driver, police tracked down and arrested a Lakewood woman on Jan. 15.
At 4 a.m., the driver called Westlake Police and told them one of his fares had made some startling comments. He said a woman he picked up at Hyatt Hotel, at Crocker Park, told him she had "Robbed the [expletive] out of somebody."
The driver noted the fare had a bag full of items, including a laptop computer, with her. Police were able to get a description of the woman and her destination from the driver.

Later in the day, a man staying at the Hyatt Hotel contacted police and said several items were missing from his hotel room.

Police then tracked down the woman described by the driver, a 22-year-old from Lakewood. She was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 25. Charges against her are pending, police said.
