Upskirt Voyeur Tells Police He Was Just Saving Memories

Westlake Police said they got surveillance footage showing the man taking upskirt photos of female shoppers at Crocker Park.

WESTLAKE, OH — "Some people have photographic memories, I save my photos on a phone." That was the defense a man appeared to give police after he was busted taking upskirt photos at a Crocker Park store this month.

A concerned citizen saw the man hanging out at a store in the shopping complex, using his cell phone to take photos or videos angled up women's skirts. The citizen was able to give a vivid description of the man to officers, a Westlake Police spokesperson said.

The man left the store, but was tracked down by police. Surveillance video obtained by officers showed the man photographing up women's skirts, police said.

The suspect, a 28-year-old from Lakewood, initially denied doing anything wrong. After police got the surveillance footage, the man then "justified" his actions with his phone-memory argument.

Police are charging the man with voyeurism and possession of criminal tools. His case will be heard in Rocky River Municipal Court.

Investigators are still trying to identify other criminal acts the man may have conducted by digging through his digital devices.
