Westlake Academic Challenge Teams Go Undefeated At Tournament

Both the high school and middle school Level 1 teams boasted unblemished, 7-0 records at the Great Lakes Regional Tournament.

WESTLAKE, OH — There's nothing better than going undefeated. The Westlake high school and middle school Academic Challenge teams found that out at the Great Lakes Regional Tournament.

Held at John Carroll University, both the high school and middle school Level 1 teams finished with an unblemished 7-0 record to take home first place banners in the tournament. The high school Level 2 team finished 5-2, and the middle school Level 2 team finished 1-5.

Both teams are coached by John and Sandy Packis.

"We are very fortunate to have so many dedicated team members who regularly come to practices and competitions," John Packis told Patch in an email. "They work hard to improve their knowledge base and have learned how to work well together as a team. Our teams are successful because they go to tournaments well-prepared."
