Westlake Early Childhood Membership Drive Set for Thursday

Parents and kids will both find plenty of perks in the organization.

Parents of young children can learn all about the Westlake Early Childhood PTA on Thursday night at .

The evening membership drive will lots of activities for kids like Balloon Bender Dave, limbo contests, relay races and inflatable fun.

“We encourage kids to come to see what it’s like to be part of the group,” said member Holly Taylor who joined after moving to Westlake last summer. She said the organization is a great way to get involved in the community and have some fun.

The organization puts together a field trip about once a week, some big, some small like apple picking, swimming or catching a Disney on Ice show.

“My kids get to get involved and get to make new friends, and I get to see the other moms,” Taylor said. “We also have a lot of adult activities which is a nice way for parents to get out.”’

There are also holiday parties, a community service group and a babysitting co-op so that parents can take turns watching each other’s kids.

WECPTA is open to anyone with kids in the 0 to 6 years old range, but members are mostly Westlake residents, Taylor said.

“We have some members from Avon, Avon Lake, Rocky River… We welcome anyone in the area,” she said.

The membership drive starts at 5:30 p.m. and runs until 8 p.m. Membership feesa re $10, plus either a $20 donation for WECPTA’s Night at the Races auction or an auction item.
