Westlake High School Students Win Art Awards
Six students had their work honored by the Cleveland Clinic.

WESTLAKE, OH - The Cleveland Clinic eXpression program, which encourages medical and scientific exploration through art, named six Westlake students as winners of its annual competition.
In the art category, Katherine Mazzella won a Red Ribbon, while Kira Mudryk and Bridget Quinn won White Ribbons. In the language category, Rachael Kaiser earned a Red Ribbon, and Norah Wilson and Hyun Park won Honorable Mentions for their short stories and poems.
The eXpression program specifically works with high school students through its art programs. The challenge is to translate research studies conducted by high school interns at the Cleveland Clinic into artistic, literary, and mathematical interpretations of the science.

This year, the program featured 51 schools and 1,500 projects. The red ribbon winners receive $75. White ribbon winners get $50 and honorable mentions receive $25.
There are also awards for the teachers of winning students. Each teacher get a $100 educational grant. Westlake High School teacher Kelly Atkinson, Julie Davidson, and Amy Kleinz all won grants.

All six students will have their work displayed as part of the annual eXpressions eXhibition, Feb. 9 to March 17, at the Global Center for Health Innovation.
