Westlake Jeweler Closing After 36 Years

And the store's going out of business sale starts Friday, April 20.

WESTLAKE, OH — For 36 years Norman and Manny Thomas, brothers, have manned N.J. Thomas Jewelers, a staple of the west side business community. But after three decades the brothers have decided to close up shop and call it a good run.

The company was founded in 1982 and was originally located in Bay Village. In 1993, the Thomas brothers moved their store to the Promenade at Crocker Park.

To thank customers, N.J. Thomas Jewelers will be holding a going-out-of-business sale which starts Friday, April 20.

“The shoppers will really be getting a great bargain,” said Norman. “The quality that we have, and the fine workmanship. It’s really not going to be repeated,” continued Manny.

N.J. Thomas Jewelers specialized in creating custom jewelry pieces for customers. Besides carrying, diamonds in all cuts, and gemstones, the business also sells bracelets, necklaces, engagement rings, brooches, wedding bands and bridal jewelry. Pearls of various sizes and types including Akoya, freshwater, strands or singles are also for sale. Clocks, including those made by Bulova, Howard Miller and Seiko.

N.J. Thomas Jewelers “helped my fiancé custom-make an engagement ring that is EXACTLY what we wanted,” one customer wrote on the store’s Facebook page. “Staff was very helpful and treated us like we were part of the family.”

The brothers both reflected on a career well-done, remembering fondly their three decades of working with customers.

“It makes a lot of people smile and be happy, especially when you sell them engagement rings,” Norman said. “It’s artistic. You’re dealing with nature - gold, silver, stones. If there is a second life for anybody, I would go back and do the same thing.”
