Westlake Library Offers eReading Rooms For Kids, Teens

A digitized collection of audiobooks and ebooks have been curated for members of the Westlake Porter Public Library.

WESTLAKE, OH - The Westlake Porter Public Library is now offering digitized reading rooms for kids and teenagers.

Using their library card, patrons can browse through audiobooks and ebooks written specifically for children and teenagers. The collection has been cordoned from the rest of the catalog, meaning digital searches will specifically encompass young adult and children's fiction.

The library's digital collection includes thousands of ebooks and audiobooks. The new eReading rooms for kids and teens are available through the Westlake Porter Public Library website and through the "Libby" app from OverDrive.

“The eReading Rooms for kids and teens are a perfect way for kids to explore our digital book options while parents know the content is appropriate,” said Rebecca Shook, youth services manager at Westlake Porter Public Library. “Libby has the same features and is a great option on-the-go, especially for those summer car trips! We’re so excited for you to check these out next time you’re looking for a book!”

In the Libby app, the eReading Room will be called a "guide" while the library's website will call them "collections."

The idea of eReading Rooms came from physical spaces in libraries designed specifically for younger patrons. Since those rooms offer material curated for their primary users, the eReading Rooms offer similar material.
