Westlake Man Forged Prescription For Oxycodone, Police Say

The man dropped off a fraudulent prescription at a Walgreens on Center Ridge Road, according to a police spokesperson.

WESTLAKE, OH — On Jan. 17, the Walgreens on Center Ridge Road received a prescription. The document, made out to a woman, was dropped off at the drive-thru and was written for Oxycodone. Police believe the prescription was a forgery.

Oxycodone is an opioid-based pain killer.

The prescription was dropped off at 11 a.m. Staff at the Walgreens discovered the script was not valid after routine investigation, according to a Westlake police spokesperson. Westlake police were then called in.

Officers learned the prescription was dropped off by a 36-year-old Westlake man. Police identified the man and waited for him to return.

On Jan. 19, the man came back to the Walgreens. He had another prescription (which police said was also a forgery).

Officers took the man into custody on suspicion of forgery. Police said they would recommend a grand jury add charges of identity fraud, deception to obtain dangerous drugs and illegal processing of drug documents.
