Westlake Police Seeking Serial Champagne Thief

The man allegedly stole four bottles of champagne from a local grocery store by shoving them down his pants and walking out.

WESTLAKE, OH - Police are looking for a man that allegedly stole a wealth of champagne bottles from a local grocery store on Dec. 27. The suspect made a second attempt to steal champagne from the same store on Jan. 16.

The Giant Eagle at 30664 Detroit Rd. had four bottle of champagne, worth $240, pilfered on Dec. 27. The man shoved the bottles into his pants and left the store. Police did not say if the man was clanking as he exited.

The kicker is that the same suspect returned to the same Giant Eagle on Jan. 16. Police believe he was trying to once again snag some free bubbly. However, the store had moved the champagne to a restricted location, so the man couldn't simply shove bottles of alcohol into his pants and penguin walk out of the store.
