Westlake Schools Closed Thursday
Extreme cold has prompted school districts around the region to close down.
WESTLAKE, OH — The Westlake City Schools will be closed Thursday, Jan. 4, due to weather, the district announced on its website. Freezing cold temperatures have swept into Northeast Ohio, with wind chill temperatures in the -15 degree region. Thirty minutes of exposure to that cold can cause frost bite, according to the National Weather Service.
Many districts around Greater Cleveland have also closed school on Jan. 5, when temperatures are expected to remain in the dangerously cold region.
