Westlake Student Musicians Earn State Recognition

Plus, the students will perform at the Ohio Music Education Association Conference — in Cleveland.

WESTLAKE, OH — Westlake High School senior Matt Eppele has been selected for the prestigious All-State Orchestra. This is his second time earning a spot on the orchestra and last year he performed in the All-State Band.

Several Westlake High students were picked as alternates for the All-State groups, including Jessica Barrick, Nathan Hsaio, and Juyoung Lee. All-State groups are chosen through a series of auditions. The bands perform at the Ohio Music Education Association Conference, which will be held at the Cleveland Convention Center Jan. 31-Feb. 1, 2019.

All of the performances at the convention are free and open to the public. Students at Westlake are under the direction of Hilary Patrick, director of instrumental music.
