Westlake Student Wins National Art Award

WHS sophomore Madeline Chernosky will be honored at Carnegie Hall.

sophomore Madeline Chernosky won a National Silver Key award for her painting, “A Self Portrait,” in the National Art & Writing Competition.

Chernosky was one of 12 WHS students to earn a regional award in the Cuyahoga County Scholastic Art & Writing Competition. She earned a Gold Key for her painting, which was the only piece of art from WHS, and one of only 18 pieces in the region, to earn a national honor.

Madeline and her family, as well as WHS art teacher Deb Gantz, will attend the award ceremonies in June at Carnegie Hall in New York City.
