Westlake Students Win Tech, Engineering Awards

The Ohio State Fair Technology & Engineering Showcase was kind to a few Westlake Demons.

From WHS: Students of the Westlake High School Technology & Engineering (T & E) Department garnered several awards at the Ohio State Fair Technology & Engineering Showcase in Columbus recently.

In the Technology & Engineering Showcase held in the Lausche Youth Center building, Westlake T & E students won the following awards:

The team of KAITLIN WILLI (SR.), ETHAN SIMON (SR.), ROBERT FULOP (SR.), & SCOTT RENNARD (SO.) won the BEST OF SHOW award for their “Modern Frank Lloyd Wright" and energy efficient model house design in the Construction/Architecture Technology category. The team also won the prestigious People’s Choice Award.

ETHAN SIMON won the OUTSTANDING AWARD ribbon for his “Bone recreation by laser scanning” project in the Additive Manufacturing Technology category.

The team of CONNOR REIS (SR.) and HENRY LEVENBERG (JR.) won the OUTSTANDING AWARD ribbon for their “Single Step Portable Stool" project in the Manufacturing Technology category.

Winning the “Award of Merit” ribbon were the following:

2018 graduate JILLIAN EDDY for her “Portable Bike Anchor” in the Engineering and Invention/Innovation Technology category.

ROBERT FULOP for his “Vase Design w/Dynamo” in the Design Technology using CAD category.

The Westlake High School Technology & Engineering department also won the exclusive Champion for Technology Education award. Ohio State Fair officials from the Ohio Expo Center stated that just over 908,000 people attended the 12 day event.
