Westlake Teacher Presents On New State Math Standards

One of the district's kindergarten teachers helped revise Ohio's K-5 math standards. Then she was asked to speak at a state conference.

WESTLAKE, OH — A Westlake kindergarten teacher helped revise Ohio's K-5 math standards this year. That same teacher, Diane Reisdorff, co-presented at a state conference on the new standards and how to model a curriculum.

Reisdorff was one of the speakers at the 67th annual Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics in Columbus on Oct. 19-20.

"It was a great opportunity to meet and talk with others who work with students in the area of Mathematics and curriculum.," Reisdorff told Patch in an email. Reisdorff was tapped to be part of a group of math teachers from around the Buckeye State to help revise the math standards. During the 2016-2017 school year, she then helped write a model curriculum around the revised standards.

This was Reisdorff's first time speaking at the OCTM.
