White Powder Found During Traffic Stop In Westlake
Police said they stopped an impaired driver on Dover Center Road last week. They found a white powder in their car.
WESTLAKE, OH — A white powdery substance was found during a traffic stop in Westlake last week, police said.
At 3:15 p.m. on July 6, a resident called 911 and reported seeing a possibly intoxicated driver on Dover Center Road. When officers found the vehicle, they tried to pull it over. Before the car stopped, it hit a street sign, police said.
The driver was a 33-year-old man from Westlake. Police said he appeared lethargic and intoxicated when they spoke to him.

The man was field tested and then taken into custody on suspicion of operating a car impaired.
Officers searched the man's car and found a white powdery substance, along with drug paraphernalia. The man refused to take a drug test.

The 33-year-old faces charges for reckless operation and operating a vehicle impaired. The powder has been sent to a laboratory for analysis. Additional charges could be added, depending on the analysis.
