Woman Killed In Car Accident In Westlake

WESTLAKE, OH — A 32-year-old woman was killed in a car accident in Westlake on Saturday morning. Police are still investigating what caused the crash.

At 3 a.m., police were called to a car accident at Detroit and Bassett Roads. A 2018 Ford Taurus had gone off the road and hit a utility pole near the intersection.

There were two people inside the car when it hit the pole. The passenger, a 30-year-old man, was taken to St. John Medical Center with injuries that were deemed to be not life threatening.

However, Crystal Cieza, 32, was killed in the collision. Westlake police said alcohol may have played a part in the accident.

Part of Detroit Road was closed until 6 a.m. while officers investigated the accident. Westlake police and the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner are looking into the crash.
