Bingocize, hypertension programs offered at MYCAP Senior Center Events (farmanddairy.com) — Mahoning County Public Health is launching free Bingocize and hypertension-control classes this September at the MYCAP Senior Center on Ridge Avenue in Youngstown, giving older adults structured ways to get active and manage blood pressure. Sessions run weekly or twice weekly for several weeks, and residents 55 and older must pre-register by calling the center for details and enrollment.
   

2. Clean up Youngstown on Sept. 19 with Legacy Tire Events (farmanddairy.com) — Youngstown residents are invited to join Legacy Tire & Auto Repair's Mahoning Avenue cleanup on Saturday, Sept. 19, from 9 a.m. to noon, supporting World Cleanup Day. Volunteers will help spruce up a key business corridor, can earn service hours, and will be entered to win a $150 Legacy Tire gift certificate, with advance registration encouraged but walk-ups welcome.
   

3. Former county, city leader dies (vindy.com) — Youngstown is mourning Robert E. Bush Jr., the city's first Black police chief and a longtime public servant in roles spanning police, law, schools and Mahoning County agencies. Friends and colleagues praise his steady leadership, military service and decades of work improving local justice and social services that touched many Youngstown residents' lives.
   

4. Flora Named Ohio Land Bank Association Board President (businessjournaldaily.com) — Youngstown-based Mahoning County Land Bank director Debora Flora has been named board president of the Ohio Land Bank Association, giving the Valley a leading voice in statewide property revitalization. She'll help guide efforts to return vacant properties to productive use and is bringing the association's 2027 state conference to nearby Canfield, highlighting the region's redevelopment work.
   

5. 8 felony indictments made by Mahoning County grand jury (mahoningmatters.com) — Mahoning County's grand jury has issued eight felony indictments involving residents from Youngstown and nearby communities on charges ranging from drug offenses to assault and OVI. The brief report lists each defendant, their hometown, and the specific felony counts returned this week.
