• Mahoning County court clerk denies racial discrimination (wfmj.com) — A racial discrimination and retaliation lawsuit against Mahoning County Clerk of Courts Michael Ciccone, based in Youngstown, is moving forward as he formally denies more than 50 allegations by former administrator Thais Scott. Court filings detail disputed texts, an HR complaint, and Scott's firing, while a Common Pleas judge has set an October 22 status hearing that could shape the case's next steps.
• Youngstown Foundation awards $986K in grants for Stambaugh Auditorium, other projects (mahoningmatters.com) — Youngstown residents will see nearly $1 million in new support flowing to Stambaugh Auditorium's roof replacement, an inclusive trail project in Bazetta, and 13 local nonprofits and schools. The Youngstown Foundation's latest grants back everything from youth programs at the YMCA and city schools to housing, recovery, and neighborhood projects, aiming to preserve key landmarks and expand inclusive spaces across the Mahoning Valley.
• Property transfers for Aug. 22 (vindy.com) — If you're tracking real estate around Youngstown, this week's Mahoning and Trumbull county transfer list shows dozens of homes and commercial properties changing hands, including many inside city limits. From modest residential deals to high-end sales, the rundown offers a snapshot of neighborhood activity and potential new neighbors across Youngstown and surrounding communities.
