Choffin Career & Technical Center Reschedules Open House (businessjournaldaily.com) — Families with Youngstown City School District juniors and transfers should note that Choffin Career & Technical Center has moved its new student open house to Sept. 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its East Wood Street campus. Students can meet staff, tour labs, and learn about half‑day career programs, with some spots still open for the 2026–27 school year.

Ravyn Tanae Sims, Youngstown, Ohio (wkbn.com) — Youngstown is mourning the loss of 21-year-old Ravyn Tanae Sims, a Youngstown Early College graduate whose funeral and viewing will be held Friday, August 28 at Third Baptist Church on Park Hill Drive. Family, friends, and former classmates are invited to pay their respects, celebrate her vibrant spirit, and support her loved ones as they gather to remember her life and legacy.
3. Lynn Diane Rutledge, Youngstown, Ohio (wkbn.com) — Family and friends in Youngstown are preparing to honor 76-year-old Lynn Diane Rutledge, who grew up in Lansingville and later earned a social work degree from Youngstown State University. Her Homegoing Celebration is set for Friday, September 4 on Madison Avenue, followed by burial at Belmont Park Cemetery and a repast at The Jaylex Center, all in Youngstown.

Shell Chemical Assets Draw Bidders; Warren Advances Riverfront Redevelopment (businessjournaldaily.com) — Youngstown readers will want to watch plans to turn a downtown building into the new Idora Park Museum, a $11.5 million project preserving the beloved amusement park's rides and memorabilia. The brief also notes bidders circling Shell's chemical assets and a new pedestrian bridge linking Warren's riverfront attractions.

Beau Brungard accounts for 5 touchdowns in Youngstown State's season-opening win over Mercyhurst (newser.com) — Youngstown football fans just watched a huge night from Youngstown State quarterback Beau Brungard, who accounted for five touchdowns in a dominant 43–10 home win over Mercyhurst. The nationally ranked Penguins rolled up 484 yards of offense and now head to Kentucky on September 5, while former Mercyhurst coach Ryan Riemedio continues in his new role as YSU defensive coordinator.
