The expanded facility doubles capacity, adds four classrooms, therapy and conference space, and was enabled by land donated after Allen's Pharmacy closed, keeping the school within the Youngstown City School District.

2. Downtown Youngstown Tower Projects Move Toward Key Milestones (businessjournaldaily.com) — Two landmark downtown Youngstown towers are being transformed into mixed-use buildings, adding dozens of new apartments and refreshed commercial space in the city's core. Renovations at the Mahoning National Bank Building could finish within eight months, while construction at Central Tower is expected to start by year's end, promising new housing, offices, and retail for downtown residents and workers.

3. YBI Names Finalists for 2026 Shark Tank Competition (businessjournaldaily.com) — A Youngstown-based startup competition is coming up as YBI's 2026 Shark Tank event readies four finalist companies to pitch for up to $25,000 in prizes. Held Oct. 29 at Mr. Anthony's in Boardman, the evening will feature local celebrity judges, live pitches, and audience voting, giving Mahoning Valley residents a chance to support regional innovation.

4. Hunger study: Rising costs mean skipped meals, unpaid bills (wfmj.com) — Families in Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley are increasingly turning to food pantries and public kitchens as rising costs force them to skip meals or fall behind on bills. Local leaders at Second Harvest Food Bank and the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley in Youngstown report sharply higher demand, especially from homeless families, and are fundraising to expand shelter space and services.
