• Youngstown concert promoter lands first international sponsor ahead of fall shows (mahoningmatters.com) — Two big tribute concerts are coming to Penguin City Brewing in downtown Youngstown on September 26 and October 3, backed by the first international sponsor for local promoter Ellis Music Events. The shows aim to draw visitors from across the region, boost nearby businesses, and showcase Youngstown as a growing live entertainment destination while partnering with local attractions like Nightmare in Niles.
• Leadership Mahoning Valley to introduce Class of 2027 at kick-off breakfast (mahoningmatters.com) — Leadership Mahoning Valley is welcoming its Class of 2027, which includes many leaders from Youngstown institutions like the Business Incubator, Youngstown City School District, and local hospitals. Residents can attend the September 24 kick-off breakfast in Warren to support these 44 emerging and established leaders who will spend nine months tackling issues that shape Youngstown and the wider Mahoning Valley.
• YSU Professor Leads Trauma-Informed Care Training in Rwanda (businessjournaldaily.com) — A Youngstown State University social work professor is using her expertise in trauma-informed care to train healthcare professionals and students in Rwanda, while building partnerships that feed directly into YSU courses. Her work is shaping new wellness and trauma curricula back in Youngstown, creating future study-abroad and service-learning opportunities for local nursing and social work students.
