1. Youngstown Technology Park breaks ground: Here's what to know about the project (mahoningmatters.com) — City leaders have broken ground on the Youngstown Technology Park, a 12-acre industrial development expected to add over 200,000 square feet of Class A space and attract new manufacturing jobs. Backed by $2.4 million from JobsOhio and led by Top Property Holdings, the $4.8 million project is slated for completion by late May and aims to keep opportunities in the Mahoning Valley.
2. The Carter House: Transitional housing solution location opens in Youngstown (mahoningmatters.com) — A new Carter House transitional housing facility has opened at 4610 Market St. in Youngstown, expanding support for formerly incarcerated residents. Alongside its original Willis Ave. location, the program offers temporary housing, training, and resources to help people stabilize and move toward independent living, backed by a recent ribbon-cutting with the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber.
3. Force surge in third period to shutout Youngstown (inforum.com) — Youngstown hockey fans saw the Phantoms shut out 4–0 at home by Fargo, despite outshooting their opponent 30–26. Goalie Samuel Hrenak turned away every Youngstown chance, while Fargo exploded for four third-period goals, including two from Lauri Kouhia, in Saturday's USHL matchup.
4. Local baseball, softball Pink Out tournament raises funds for cancer support (wkbn.com) — Youngstown is hosting the 6th annual Pink Out baseball and softball tournament this weekend, raising money for local cancer support group Yellow Brick Place. A highlight came when 95-year-old two-time breast cancer survivor Mary Delliquadri threw a ceremonial first pitch to her 8-year-old great-granddaughter, with the championship game and check presentation set for this afternoon at Millcreek Jr. Baseball & Girls Softball Complex.
5. Washington State College of Ohio awarded Appalachian Regional Commission funds (newsandsentinel.com) — A new round of Appalachian Regional Commission funding includes $1.5 million for Youngstown State University to create a Connected Infrastructure Lab at the YSU Excellence Training Center. While most of the $6 million package supports workforce and education projects across Appalachian Ohio, this grant will help strengthen technology and infrastructure-focused training opportunities tied to the Youngstown area economy.
