Commemorate the day that Neil Armstrong awed the world when he visited this mysterious place.  There is where he planted the American Flag.  Apollo 11 was the spacecraft that transported Mr. Armstrong to the moon.  The mission was 8 days.  His task was to gather lunar surface samples to return to Planet Earth.  He also took many pictures of the Moon’s terrain.

The moon is a large celestial body.  It is made of rock and metals.  The moon causes tides in the ocean.  It is considered a satellite.  How was the moon created?  Well there is one theory that Mars collided with Earth billions of years ago, and that collision broke a part of earth off that was thrust into space causing a big pile of debris.  This debris was trapped by Earth’s gravity and ended up in orbit.  This debris came together in one form creating the big bright ball we see in the sky today.
