1. Stompin' Grounds Market closes amid $105,856 rent lawsuit (journalrecord.com) — More than 70 small businesses inside Oklahoma City's Stompin' Grounds Market are suddenly without a home after officials closed the marketplace amid a lawsuit over more than $100,000 in alleged unpaid rent. The property owner claims the business defaulted on its lease, and vendors now must contact the owner to retrieve their belongings while the case proceeds.
2. Oklahoma City groups team up to expand after-school programs (news9.com) — Community groups in northeast Oklahoma City are teaming up to expand after-school options and push lawmakers for more support, especially during the critical 2–6 p.m. hours. Urban Bridge Impact Center and partners like OPEL, Cleats for Kids, and Hunger Free Oklahoma want more safe, structured programs for local kids and hope to grow similar efforts across the city and state.
3. Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner now being sued in State Farm fight (okcfox.com) — Two Oklahoma City homeowners suing State Farm over a denied hail-damage roof claim are now also suing Oklahoma's Insurance Commissioner, saying he hasn't released a promised investigation report on the company's roof-claim practices. Their attorneys, who represent hundreds of policyholders, argue the long-delayed findings could be crucial evidence in their broader legal fight.
4. Heartland Flyer secures funding to continue service through next year (koco.com) — Oklahoma City riders of Amtrak's Heartland Flyer can count on the train running at least another year after new funding was secured despite earlier uncertainty from Texas officials. Oklahoma's transportation department has committed money through year's end while Texas seeks longer-term legislative support, and tickets are already on sale into next summer.
5. Utility truck catches fire inside southwest Oklahoma City building (news9.com) — Oklahoma City firefighters quickly knocked down a utility truck fire inside a commercial building near SW 8th Street and Council Road in southwest Oklahoma City. No one was hurt, and investigators believe an electrical problem in the vehicle sparked the blaze, according to the Oklahoma City Fire Department.
