1. Key to Home houses 55 people, closes Virginia Avenue encampment (velocityokc.com) — Fifty-five people from the Virginia Avenue encampment in Oklahoma City have just moved into furnished apartments with support services, as the Key to Home partnership continues its Encampment Rehousing Initiative. Nearly 700 residents have now been housed and 35 encampments closed, with city agencies and nonprofits coordinating outreach, rental help, and ongoing case management to prevent camps from returning.
   

2. Fire leaves formerly homeless residents without shelter again in Oklahoma City (koco.com) — A large fire at northwest Oklahoma City's Melrose Apartments destroyed three buildings Sunday, displacing about 50 formerly homeless residents who had been rehoused through the city's Key to Home partnership. Oklahoma City fire investigators are still probing the cause after briefly detaining a woman, while the Homeless Alliance, caseworkers, and Red Cross work to find new housing for tenants.
   

3. Oklahoma City road rage turns to knife fight near I-35, driver rushed to hospital (koco.com) — A violent road rage confrontation near SE 44th and the I-35 service road in Oklahoma City escalated from a traffic dispute to a knife attack, leaving a driver badly wounded. Police say an officer arrived as the fight ended, found the victim bleeding and the motorcyclist holding a knife, and arrested the rider on an assault with a deadly weapon complaint.
   

4. Oklahoma City Arts Commission proposes several new public art projects (koco.com) — New public art could soon brighten several corners of Oklahoma City, with the Arts Commission unanimously backing installations in Automobile Alley, Northeast OKC, Capitol Hill and Dewey Park. Projects like the Clara Luper-inspired "Path of Love" still need City Council and Downtown Design Commission approval, but they're designed to spark conversation, honor local history, and make everyday spaces more inviting for residents.
   

5. Oklahoma Lottery Lotto America, Pick 3 results for Aug. 31, 2026 (oklahoman.com) — Oklahoma Lottery players can now check the official Aug. 31 Lotto America, Pick 3, and Cash 5 winning numbers and learn exactly how to claim prizes by mail through the Oklahoma City processing address.
