Oklahoma City Council To Hold June 2 Meeting By Videoconference

The Oklahoma City Council will hold its June 2 budget meeting by videoconference.

The Council has held meetings by teleconference or videoconference since the spring to protect public health during the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining critical operations. City Hall and other City office buildings are temporarily closed to visitors during the pandemic. The Council Chamber is also under renovation.

Tuesday’s meeting includes proposed budget presentations from these departments:

• Police
• Fire
• OKC Parks
• Development Services
• Public Transportation and Parking

The agendas and supporting documents for every City of Oklahoma City public meeting will be posted as normal to okc.gov/agenda. Agendas will include instructions to participate for all meetings conducted by teleconference or videoconference.

How it works

Tuesday’s meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. and has no physical location. Council members, staff and others may participate only by videoconference or phone.

Before the meeting, visit okc.gov/agenda to get the agenda and see the items to be considered.

It’s best to sign up to speak at the meeting before it begins. City staff will attempt to process requests made during the meeting. Include your name, address, agenda item number and the reason you would like to speak, including the subject on which you’d like to speak if it’s for “Citizens to Be Heard.” There are three ways to sign up to speak:

A recording of the meeting will be posted as normal later in the day to the City’s YouTube channel at youtube.com/cityofokc.

The Mayor will announce at the beginning of the meeting that if connections are lost, the City will attempt to restore them for up to 30 minutes. The meeting will be rescheduled they aren’t restored in time.

Meetings conducted remotely are in accordance with changes to the state Open Meetings Act included in the Oklahoma Legislature’s SB 661. The changes define how to legally hold open meetings remotely during the pandemic and beyond.

Other City boards, trusts, commissions and committees are also using teleconference or videoconference formats to conduct business.
