“COVID-19 presents a real threat to everyone,” said Freeman. “Please wear a mask and take the virus seriously. The worst part about this is not knowing if I passed coronavirus on to others.”

The City has a screening, testing and contact tracing program for City employees, which Freeman used for the test. City Hall staff members who recently came into contact with Freeman for more than 15 minutes plan to get tested. Others who came into contact with Freeman have also been notified. The City’s program is administered jointly by the Office of Emergency Management, Risk Management and the Fire Department.

Freeman said he does not know where he contracted the virus.

The City Manager is the chief administrative officer in the City’s Council-Manager form of government. The City Manager reports to the City Council.
