1921 Graves Scanning Complete At Newblock, Oaklawn Sites

The State of Oklahoma Archaeological Survey (OAS) based at the University of Oklahoma, has completed the geophysical and scanning work at two of the three sites that were originally identified for initial scanning based on data and historian reports from the 2001 State Commissioned Report of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.

With Oaklawn Cemetery and Newblock Park complete, the City of Tulsa will work with Rolling Oaks Memorial Gardens Cemetery and OAS to schedule scanning at the remaining site in the coming weeks. The City will provide the schedule once confirmed.

The Public Oversight Committee Meeting that was originally scheduled for Oct. 24 is postponed and the Committee will reconvene once results are complete from the geophysical work. The results from the scanning phase are expected to be complete and presented to the Public Oversight Committee in December 2019 or January 2020.
